Sweet Little Antique Nancy Ann Dolls

I wanted to share some photos of my Antique Nancy Ann Dolls.   I have a few in my collection and l I have been cleaning them up and displaying them.  I love their cute little faces.

Most of these dolls came out long before Disney reimagined such classic stories as Beauty and the Beast.  Therefore, they do not have a Disney look to them.

I am particularly fond of the bisque Nancy Ann Dolls and most of my dolls are bisque.

A group of pretty girls all cleaned up! 

I  got these cuties in a large group of dolls for just a few dollars.  Below you will see dolls such as December (7" tall and dressed in red).  She looks kind of like a big sister doll.  Also, August is pictured below wearing the polka dot dress.

Although I love the themed dolls, I also love to clean and dress up these cuties myself.  I haver miscellaneous Nancy Ann doll clothes and accessories, so I often just dress them the way I like them. 

The last one I want to share is a real cutie but she also needed the most work.  I had to re-paint her little shoes and clean her up.  I also cleaned her clothes and I had to dye her hat and jacket.  They were a very dingy and dirty lighter blue.  I dyed them navy blue, which was a process.  I then gave her new ribbons, as I did most of my cuties (vintage seam binding works best).  I then dressed her and I think she looks like the cutest school girl ever.  

I hope you have enjoyed my little Nancy Ann dolls.  I am not a true collector of these dolls.  I simply find them here and there and I love cleaning them up and displaying them.  They are very photogenic.  They are perfect for decorating and vignettes.

My New Royal Albert Cups!

My New Royal Albert Cups!

We are still enjoying our Wedgwood Teas and we recently added 2 new Royal Albert cups to our collection of beautiful coffee and tea cups.  

I love this tiered stand for displaying our tea and our beautiful cups.  I have had this stand for years and up until recently I did not use it but I am so glad I pulled it out and decided to use it.  It is perfect!

The cups are from Royal Albert and the collection is called Polka Rose.  I love the beautiful crown inside each cup. 

Off to have a cuppa!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I adore Valentine's Day!  I love to decorate and celebrate in small romantic ways.  One of my favorite things is my heart teacups and saucers that my very own sweetheart gave to me several years ago.  You may remember then for my post some time back but with Valentine's Day just around the corner I wanted to share them once again.  

I love to pull these out of their box and display and use them during February.   They go perfectly with my many teapots.  

Perfect for enjoying our Marie Antoinette tea.

Sometimes I find I need to treat myself to something nice.  This week it just happened to be tea,  I found two teas to add to our collection at Home Goods.  These are English Breakfast and English Afternoon by Wedgwood Teas.  They come in beautiful tins, perfect for display.  

I had this wooden stand that I have never used and I thought these pretties tins of tea would look lovely on it with a few teacups.  

I plan to add more of these find teas to our collection and fill up my wooden stand with these beautiful tins.

With Loving Thoughts

Vintage Valentines doll reflecting my

nostalgic state of mind. 

I have been feeling very nostalgic this evening, thinking of the people I have known and loved during my life.  Many of them have passed away and others have simply been lost in time.  Some have changed and gone in a different direction, or perhaps it is me that has taken a different direction.  As I have educated myself in life my views have changed and have developed.  I try to see outside my box and I attempt to see the big picture.  

I cling to memories of days gone by and

friends lost in the pages of time and history. 

Often I find myself grieving over the loss of my loved ones.  I try to tell myself that I should not be sad that they are gone, that I should be happy that they were in my life instead. I miss them all for different reason because they represented different things to me.  

All things grow and change over time.

At times I want to reach out to the ones that have been lost in time but I refrain for fear that we will truly find that we no longer have anything in common.  My memories are too precious to risk attempting to connect on that level again.

My life is filled with a collection of precious memories.

  

I am thankful for each and every one of my loved ones and my life is better because I had them in it.  I will always love them and miss them.  I long for the sound of their voice, to see them smile and laugh, and to simply be there for each other through good times and hard times.  They are forever a part of me and I will always love them.

Today I have shared a few more of my Valentine's Day decorations.  Perhaps decorating for Valentine's Day has influenced my mood.  After all, it is a season of love and thinking of others.

As we move into the new year we are once again faced with new challenges and many changes in our life.  Tea Cottage Pretties will soon have a new home.  We just retired from the military and my hubby accepted a new job.  The new job requires that we make a major life change because we will once again be moving.  We are both excited about our new life and apprehensive at the same time.  Changes are always lots of hard work but we will finally be settled. 

We have many months to prepare for our move and to search for a new home.  I am so excited about finding our new place.  I will once again be able to install my beautiful chandeliers and design our home to our taste.  We hope to have room for all of us and even a guest room for our family to visit since we will be living far away.  

For now, I am doing what I can to purge our home and prepare everything for the relocation. However, I still can not resist decorating for Valentine's Day.  

I adore vintage styled holiday decor items and Valentine's Day is no exception.  I had some decorations on hand but I wanted to add a few things and Hobby Lobby had the perfect items.  I purchased a wooden heart sign to use on my post that my hubby made for me during Christmas.  

 I added ribbon and a bow and then I wrapped the fairy lights around the post.  It makes an adorable sign.  I guess I will have to decorate my post for every season and holiday!  

I have much more to share but for now, I want to wish everyone a very happy new year and share our wonderful news.  I hope that your new year is off to a great start.
