The Long Way Home

My beautiful cottage furniture.  We bought two of these to use as our new bedside tables.  Aren't they sweet and perfectly styled for our shabby chic bedroom.

Hello my friends, it has been some time since I last posted on my blog and I wanted to give you an update on what has been going on in our life.  We have worked very hard over the last few months moving back to America from South Korea.  We loved Korea and we will miss it but Korea will always be in our hearts and it was time to come home.

We began this journey by preparing everything for our long journey back home.  There was a lot of planning, cleaning, packing our belongings and then shipping everything home.

We then traveled with just one bag and one carryon for each of us.  We arrived in Texas and stayed in guest housing for about 2 weeks.  We then found a home and we now have about half of our belongings and we are waiting on the rest of our stuff from Korea.

I was upset when I found out that we had to return to America sooner than expected but somehow something changed for me once we arrived.  I had a severe case of culture shock at first and it was difficult for me.  I was once again surrounded by all things familiar but the problems was there was so much that was familiar and it was overwhelming.  Once that feeling subsided I then realized how pleasantly happy I was to be home again.

We were excited to see family members again that we had missed during our stay in Korea.  We wanted to eat all the foods we had missed while in Korea.  We wanted to go to all the places we know and love.  My daughter and I wanted to go shopping at our favorite stores.  We wanted to do it all and we wanted to do it right now but that was to much to take in.

Now that things have settled down we have slowed down and we are taking our time getting back out there and enjoying our surroundings again.

We are slowly taking care of all the important stuff.  We have been buying new furniture to replace things that had seen better days or that we had donated to others when we moved to Korea.  We are putting our life back together and taking it one day at a time.

The best part is I finally have a craft room, well a craft loft.  It is big and so perfect and I am excited to finally be able to leave my sewing machine out and ready to use at any time.

Our journey has been long and hard but we are almost there.  Just one more shipment away from being complete and then maybe I can get back to crafting and having fun.  I will share some of my finds and some of my decorating touches over the next few weeks.  Until then I am happy to be back home and happy to be able to get back to blog.
