Found this umbrella stand at one of my favorite new spots.  I loved it immediately and I was delighted that is was clearance at half price and then it was an additional 15 percent off.  

I brought it home and painted it white, added some flowers and it makes a beautiful floor vase. 

What a fun and quick project.

Shadow Boxes

Shadow Boxes

I recently found these shadow boxes at one of my favorite stores.  They had a pretty background with the word LOVE on it.  I didn't know what I was going to do with them but I loved them. I knew I had a collection of vintage postcards and that they would look pretty inside the boxes.  

 I looked around the house for ideas and I had these cute metal bird embellishments,  Looking through my buttons I found that I had crown buttons that fit on the bird's little heads.  

Then I looked at my Royal Albert items and realized that my spoons had tiny holes in them and they were perfect for my shadow boxes. 

I added a few other buttons and ribbons and my shadow boxes were complete. 

I am delighted with them and they are lovely hanging in our dining area.  

They make me smile when I see them.

I purchased an inexpensive dreamcatcher and I redesigned it.  It was beige and lacked color.  I removed everything from it and added strips of fabric, vintage seam binding ribbon, and lace. 

Then I made two matching flowers and added a metal bird embellishment along with a rhinestone crown button.  I topped it off with a matching bow and now it fits nicely into our decor.  

Do you ever buy things and redesign them to fit into your decor?  I many times find that I know what I want things to look like and I see them for what they could be.  Dreamcatchers are really in style right now and you can find them everywhere.  If you can't find one to match your decor buy an inexpensive one and redesign it.

Beautiful Finds For Our Home

Beautiful New Finds for Our Home

Here at Tea Cottage Pretties, we are working on decorating our new home. This is an exciting time for me and I love finding new, vintage. and antique items.  Recently my daughter and I found an antique mall and we were fortunate to find some pieces for our home.  I found a lovely vintage floor lamp.  It was dirty and needed some love. I brought it home and cleaned it up, painted it a lovely white, rewired it, and added a pink Shabby Chic lamp shade.

We also found this beautiful needlepoint.  I bought it because it was hanging on the wall and it looked like a painting,  The colors are simply beautiful.  The frame was actually a gold color and I painted it white to freshen it up.  

Off to find more beautiful items for our home.
