What was old is new again.
My sister-in-law gave our daughter her furniture from when she was a little girl. Manufactured in 1979, this is a very common style of furniture from that era. It is very well made and has stood the test of time. As usual with this type of furniture it had yellowed over time and was in need of a makeover.
To update the furniture we decided on using a chalkboard paint in a deep grey color. Not only does the paint update the furniture but our daughter will be able to write on her furniture with chalk. How fun it that!!!
We started by cleaning the furniture and priming it. Then we sanded it and painted it using a tiny roller. This gave us a nice chalkboard surface with a bit of texture.
Our daughter loves animals and she chose a few pieces to compliment her new furniture.
We are very pleased with how the furniture turned out. This project cost us about $30.00 to complete. That is way better than paying a high price for new furniture.
Now on to the next project...
