Sharing My Valentine's Day Goodies and 2 Antique Cards

I absolutely love Valentine's Day.   It is a time set aside to recognize the love in your life and and to tell them how much you love them.  It doesn't have to be an expensive piece of jewelry or anything that cost really.  It can be a things like a coupon book made by you, a card or just a lovely love letter to express your love for that special somebody.  

Now the lover of all things beautiful in me enjoys all the PRETTIES.  I love all the colors of Valentine's Day and the sweet items that you find on the shelves in the store.  I love the beautiful cards and the hearts filled with candy.  So I want to share with you some of my Valentine's Day Pretties. 

First this is my cupcake kit in a large cupcake tin, isn't it fabulous.  I would have bought this tin even without the cupcake kit inside because I just love the tin. Okay I love most tins but this one is awesome and it is super big. 

My candy heart filled with Chocolate by Harry London and my round box of  peanut butter covered with chocolate also by Harry London.  I love these boxes and I will of course be keeping them after Valentine's Day.  I do not eat large amounts of candy or chocolates but I can nibble on them and I have found a box of candy is the best way to have a small piece of goodness. 

Although one Friday my husband brought me home this......

That is Krispy Kreme donuts in pink Valentine's Day boxes and they came with 24 Valentine's Day cards to give away.  Each card is good for one free donut of your choice. 

I also found the cutest tea tray that I just could not pass up.  I am totally loving this tea tray.  My friend Jessica pointed out to me the word play here... 

And it just so happens we had cups to match for me and Tiffany.  

I have two antique Valentine's Day cards. 
Note: These cards were published prior to 1921 and there is no copyright marked on them.  I wanted to share them with my  blogger friends so here goes. 

First is a sweet little girl with a tongue that sticks out and says "I Love You"!

Simply print her out, cut her out and put her together.  You will need to make a small slit in her mouth line and around the tongue, to put the tongue through her mouth.  Then punch the bow forward on the card.  The you simply move the bow up and down to make her tongue stick out.  I think she is adorable. 

Next we have a sweet little girl playing the piano. With this little girl just cut her out and cut around her shoes and socks leaving the top attached and fold them out.  Cut the slits for her arms and feet and push them through.  They will fold back so they are sticking out the front of the card.  Pull tab and watch her play.

EASY BUTTON BRACELET DIY

Easy Button Bracelet DIY

The Cutiest Buttons Ever

I found these darling buttons and they reminded me of Spring and Easter.  So I thought of my button bracelets and how fun it would be to make a bracelet for both big and little kids alike.  I wanted to make it an easy project that everyone could do and enjoy.  So I came up with an idea that I thought might work and I ended up with a really sweet bracelet.  Here is my new bracelet on my Marie Antoinette Tea Tin. 

This bracelet was super easy to make.  I used a thin elastic and simply laced it through the buttons one by one.  I placed one up and then flip it and placed one under and I continued the process until it fit my arm.  Then I slipped each side of the elastic through the final button and tied them off. 

I choose button that were all the same size just to make the bracelet easier to make and to give it continuity. 

Here is button bracelet once again. 

The buttons came with a set of really pretty crafting items. 

 I also got some of the sweetest little trims with the set. I love the sweet cotton candy confection of colors. 

I  will be using these sweet trims on a future project!

My favorite colors are Spring colors and I am so looking forward to crafting for this Spring and for Easter.

ONCE UPON A CIGAR BOX #2

One Upon A Cigar Box #2

I have finished my cigar boxes.  I first posted about them on my blog on January 20th.  You can see my original post here:  My Sweetheart Ball Gown and Some Cigar Boxes. 

Last week I finished the first one and you can see it here:  Once Upon A Cigar Box.

I painted the first one and I decided to mod podge this one with some pretty paper I had with vintage images on it. 

So I took off the hardware and covered the box. 

I added a pretty piece of paper on the inside top of the lid. I also added a pretty piece of soft felt to the bottom. Then I added a small decorative mirror in the top of the lid. 

I put the hardware back on and it was time to have fun.  I added lace, flowers, ribbons and a rhinestone button. 

And here is my box...

I plan to use my new box to keep my hankies in so I don't have to dig for them anymore.  Yes, I carry a hankie ALWAYS and it must be a pretty one.  The photo below shows my box open with two of my hankies. 

I think my box will look beautiful with my Ladylike Vignette.  And I am so excited I finally found some beautiful pink vintage ladies gloves to add to my vignette.

I have one thing left from my Christmas decorations to put away.  My beautiful Shabby Chic Baubles.  They are so lovely I just hate to put them away...

I have a collection of vintage postcards and I have decided that I want to share them with my blogger friends.  I want to do a series of post with images that you can use for your craft projects.  I will give you the original images front and back as it scans into my computer but I will also offer them in my cleaned up versions of the postcards.  So without further ado, here is my first postcard.

ONCE UPON A WOODEN CIGAR BOX

Once Upon A Wooden Cigar Box

I have always seen things not for what they are 
but for what I dream they should be....  

In my last post I had shared my wooden cigar boxes that we found while cleaning out our garage.  As promised I have been working on them this past week and I have one of them finished and ready to share. 

I decided to work on the black box first because I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.  First I sanded it and painted it using some chalkboard paint primer and paint.  I had the primer and chalkboard paint from a previous project.

I also painted inside the box with chalkboard paint. 

Now with the painting all finished it was time for the fun stuff.  Time to decorate my box.  I decided I want it to have a chandelier on the top and space to write in chalk whatever I may feel like writing. 

For the inside I wanted something to soften it up so I made a small pillow for the bottom using my Paris canvas fabric and I used some mod podge to line the inside top with the same fabric.  

I think my box turned out really cute. 

While working on my box I was trying to clean house in between waiting for the coats of paint to dry.  Sometimes I feel like I am fighting a battle I will never win when it comes to cleaning.  You know how you clean and clean and you are kind of proud of your progress and you look at the picture hanging on the wall and it is covered with dust.  Not just a little dust but a lot of dust.  For me the more I do the more I realize all the things that still need to be done. 

 Does housework ever end???  

I am tickled pink that we are making some progress.  Our garage looks so much better and we have cleaned out and donated 41, 33 gallon bags of clothes, toys, shoes, handbags, games, puzzles and housewares to charity. 

While we were cleaning the garage I found two big bins of fabric.  I knew I had them out there but I had forgotten about some of the different fabrics I had inside the bins.  

One piece is a vintage upholstery fabric that I found at a thrift store.  There are tens yards of it and I am thinking that I can take it to Korea and perhaps have something made for my living room.  I have a sofa, chair and two ottomans from Ikea that have slipcovers and I think I might want to make something for the sofa.  Hope it is enough fabric to make a new slip cover.  

I got all ten yards for $3.99, now that is a bargain.  

What a great find!

Don't you just love a great find at a great price. 

Well I am off to work on my other cigar box...
