MY NEW VINTAGE PEARL AND RUBIES BROOCH

My New Old Pearl And Rubies Brooch

Occasionally I find a piece of vintage jewelry that I just have to add to my collection.  Of course it helps if it is at the right price.

This is my new vintage pearl and rubies brooch.  It features a crown and ribbon with 5 lovely rubies,  14 pearls and it is 14K gold.  Some of my favorite things all brought together in one outstanding piece.

It is has a makers mark Lj.

I am delighted with my new piece of vintage jewelry.
I just had to share it...

SHABBY CHIC IN KOREA

Shabby Chic In Korea

When we found out that we would be moving to Korea to live for two years, I had to go through the process of deciding what I would take with me.  I wanted to take things that would make our new place our home.  So of course I knew I needed to bring some of my favorite Shabby Chic styled things.

We were allowed to bring less than half of our belongings so each piece I wanted to bring had to be carefully chosen.

I selected things that I love to have around me.  Like the Limoges Vase above and my handmade table chandelier.  I made the chandelier about eight years ago.  I have not been able to find replacement bulbs here in Korea so I will have to order them while we are living here.  I like to use pretty pink bulbs.

Here is my very own dress area.

I made a new cushion cover for my chair last week.  I used an adorable Paris fabric.

I brought several tea sets with me to include this sweet Sadler set.

A beautiful vintage lamp with Shabby Chic (from Target years ago) lamp shade and my 1950's night light made in Japan.

And of course we brought our beautiful iron bed and our Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic bedding (also from Target)

Our room turned out beautiful and it is a relaxing retreat filled with the things that I love to surround myself with and enjoy.

Korean homes are smaller than American homes.  I was pleased that all the things we brought with us fit into our villa.  To my surprise I have found that there are tons of Shabby Chic products in Korea.  Matter of fact there are two reoccurring themes here in Korea - American and French influenced products and foods.

One of my favorite places is a shop called the Paris Baguette. I love French macarons and they have the most scrumptious macarons and pastries.

I am off to work on my next project and I hope to be sharing it here on my blog very soon.  I am going to use a wax paper transfer to make a very French styled box.

Until then lots of hugs,
Beverly

My Eric and I spent an evening in Itaewon!  It was a lovely evening with cool winds and clear skies.  We ate at Outback Steakhouse which overlooked the street.  We did a little shopping and a lot of browsing in the shops that line the streets.  I am in love with this area and of course my Eric....

ADDING TO MY KOREAN FLATWARE COLLECTION

Adding To My Korean Flatware Collection

This week I added a few new pieces to my flatware collection.  In my original post on October 6, 2014 I shared with you the lovely flatware I had found here in Korea.

Each month I want to add a few pieces to my collection and by the time we leave Korea I should have a really nice set of flatware.

This week I added 2 long iced teaspoons, 2 short hot teaspoons, a butter knife and a sugar spoon.

STAMPED LAUNDRY BASKET

Stamped Laundry Basket

My girls were in need of a laundry basket for their bathroom.  I wanted something with a vintage look and it had to fit in with their Paris theme.  So while I was out one day I found this cute basket.

It was plain but I knew I could make it better.

So I pulled the fabric off and laid it flat and got out my collection of stamps and my stamp pad.

Now it is perfect for their bathroom...

I used crowns, a dress, Eiffel Towers, words, keys, French script, clocks and more to dress up the plain fabric.

Now they have a nice place to put their laundry.

And all I have to do is grab the cloth bag out of it and off I go to do laundry.

Unless Tiffany does it first!!!!

This was just a simple little project that I wanted to share.
Have you used stamps to make something plain FABULOUS lately?

Off to see what else I can get into...

BEAUITFUL NEW FIND

Beautiful New Find

My Little Shopping Bag

Coming to Korea I was worried about missing out on great finds.  Missing thrift shops and the shops I loved to visit.  However, what I have found is that there are many new things here to find and many great places to visit.  Not long after we arrived I found some beautiful flatware and I kept it in my mind that I would go back and purchase some.  Then I decided I wanted to go get a few pieces every month and build a collection while I am here in Korea.  It will not only allow me to collect these lovely pieces but I will have a beautiful story to go along with them.

And here Is What Was Inside My Little Shopping Bag

These are very well made 18/10 stainless.

They will last forever

Aren't they beautiful?

There are lots of other pieces to collect as well

I hope to have an entire set when we are ready to leave Korea.  I think I can learn to love my finds here and my new places to visit and explore....

Edited 2/6/2015
There has been a lot of interest in this blog post and in particular the flatware.  Many have expressed an interest in purchasing some of this beautiful flatware however, try as I might I can not find it available anywhere other than here in Korea.  I do not know much about it so I can't tell you what it is called but it is sold under the brand SMF.  I have searched the Internet and tried to find it so that others could purchase it but I haven't had any luck finding it.  This is a very pricey set as each piece is sold separately, that is why I am collecting a couple pieces at the time.  I have found the website for the manufacturer, click here for

SMF

Should I find more information I will post the information here on my blog.
